Hello everyone, everywhere.
Speaker A:Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.
Speaker A:Welcome to your 15 minute daily Bible walk.
Speaker A:Today we're so blessed you're joining us.
Speaker A:We're continuing our study and how Abraham's servant has gone back to his home country to get a wife for Isaac.
Speaker A:Now, last time we studied how he, the Lord, led Abraham's servant to the well at the appropriate time, and that the servant of Abraham prayed to God, the God of Abraham, that the first beautiful young girl that he would see would be the one he had chosen for Abraham.
Speaker A:Now, there are specific guidelines in place.
Speaker A:It had to be from his, his.
Speaker A:Abraham's family had to be a virgin, had to be someone that, you know, they would be willing to give as a wife for Isaac.
Speaker A:And you know, these were all things that the servant had prayed about.
Speaker A:And lo and behold, Rebecca shows up right on time.
Speaker A:And we covered last time how you know the, the prayer of faith.
Speaker A:Let God guide you in your decision making and, and allow him to open the doors for you.
Speaker A:So go back and listen to that episode.
Speaker A:I don't have time to go back over it all again.
Speaker A:But now Rebecca realizes that this is a relative of her father's brother.
Speaker A:So she runs back and her brother Laban comes out and meets the servant.
Speaker A:And that's where we left off at last time.
Speaker A:Okay, so we begin in verse 32 of Genesis, chapter 24.
Speaker A:The man came into the house and ungirded his camels, gave strong provender for the camels and water to wash his feet and the men's feet that were with him, and there was set meat before him to eat.
Speaker A:But he said, I will not eat until I've told you about my errand.
Speaker A:So he says, I don't, I want, I don't want to waste time here.
Speaker A:I want to tell you why I'm here.
Speaker A:And so Laban says, speak on.
Speaker A:And he said, I am Abraham's servant.
Speaker A:The Lord has blessed my master greatly.
Speaker A:He has become great.
Speaker A:He's given him flocks and herds and silver and gold, menservants and maidservants and camels and asses.
Speaker A:Sarah, my master's wife, bore a son to my master when she was old.
Speaker A:And unto him has he given all that he has.
Speaker A:My master made me swear, saying, you shall not take a wife to my son or the daughters of the Canaanites in whose land I dwell.
Speaker A:But ye shall go to my father's house and to my kindred and take a wife unto my son.
Speaker A:And I said to my master, peradventure the woman will not follow me.
Speaker A:And he said, then the Lord before whom I walk will send his angel with you and prosper your way.
Speaker A:You shall take a wife for my son, of my family and of my father's house.
Speaker A:If not, then you should be clear from this, my oath, when you come to my family, and if they do not give you one, then you should be cleared from my oath.
Speaker A:And I came this day to the well and said, o Lord, God of my master Abraham, if now you have prospered my way, which I go, behold, I am standing by the well of water.
Speaker A:And it shall come to pass that when the virgin comes forth to draw water, and I say to her, give me, I pray thee, a little water of your pitcher to drink.
Speaker A:And she would say to me, both you drink, and I will also draw for your camels.
Speaker A:Let that same be the woman who the Lord has appointed out for my master's son.
Speaker A:So he's just reciting here in the presence of that family, Laban and Rebecca sitting there.
Speaker A:Everyone's listening to this.
Speaker A:Before I had finished speaking in my heart, I looked up and Rebecca came forth with the picture on her shoulder.
Speaker A:And she went down to the well and drew the water.
Speaker A:And I said to her, let me drink, I pray thee.
Speaker A:And she made haste let down her picture from her shoulder and said, drink, and I'll give your camels drink also.
Speaker A:So I drank, and she made the camels to drink.
Speaker A:And then I asked her and said, whose daughter are you?
Speaker A:And she said, the daughter of Bithiel, Nahor's son, whom Milkah bore to him.
Speaker A:And I put the earring upon her face and the bracelets upon her hands.
Speaker A:And I bowed down my head and worshiped the Lord and blessed the Lord God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take me right to my master's brother's daughter, unto his son.
Speaker A:Now, if you will deal kindly and truly with my Master and tell me.
Speaker A:If not, tell me that also, so I may turn to the right or to the left, then I love.
Speaker A:Verse 50.
Speaker A:Laban and Bethel answered and said, the thing proceeds from the Lord.
Speaker A:We can't speak onto it, good or bad.
Speaker A:I can see them as he's reciting this picture.
Speaker A:You're in this situation.
Speaker A:You're in the room, and you just heard what I just read.
Speaker A:I could picture Laban and looking at each other, and the families look at each other, looking at Rebecca.
Speaker A:And it's like, wow.
Speaker A:You know?
Speaker A:And they're just, you know, we can't this is from God.
Speaker A:I mean, everything is from God.
Speaker A:We can't say yes or no.
Speaker A:We can't tell if this is good or bad.
Speaker A:So he said, behold Rebecca.
Speaker A:She's before you.
Speaker A:Take her and go.
Speaker A:Let her be your master's son's wife, as the Lord has spoken.
Speaker A:And it came to pass when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshiped the Lord, bowing himself to this.
Speaker A:So he went, he bowed down and started praising God right there in the midst of him.
Speaker A:Praise God.
Speaker A:The servant brought forth jewels of silver and jewels of gold and raiment and gave them to Rebecca and gave to her brother and to her mother precious things.
Speaker A:And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him.
Speaker A:And they spent the night, then rose up in the morning and said, send me away to my master.
Speaker A:And her brother.
Speaker A:Mother said, let the damsel abide with us for a few days now at the least 10.
Speaker A:After that, she shall go.
Speaker A:Now, the middle reference is translated.
Speaker A:You're looking here, you know, a few more days later, you know, it says here a full year now for the Jewish calendar, that's 10 months.
Speaker A:Okay?
Speaker A:Said at least 10 months.
Speaker A:After that she can go.
Speaker A:And he said to them, do not hinder me, seeing the Lord has prospered my way.
Speaker A:Send me away that I may go to my master.
Speaker A:And they said, well, let's ask her what she wants to do, and inquired at her mouth.
Speaker A:And they called Rebekah and said, would you go with this man?
Speaker A:And she goes, yes, I will go.
Speaker A:And they sent away Rebekah, their sister and her nurse, and Abraham's servant and his men.
Speaker A:And they blessed Rebecca and said to her, you are our sister.
Speaker A:You will be the mother of thousands of millions.
Speaker A:Let your seed possess the gate of those which hate them.
Speaker A:Now, let's stop right there.
Speaker A:Where did he get that idea from?
Speaker A:Well, obviously, they heard about the blessing of Abraham.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:How God said, your descendants will be as the stars of heaven, as the sand of the sea.
Speaker A:And, you know, millions of kings and all that.
Speaker A:I mean, they.
Speaker A:They heard that blessing, and now there's like, this is what.
Speaker A:Walking right in line with that.
Speaker A:God said he is going to bless Abraham.
Speaker A:He did.
Speaker A:His son now inherits everything Abraham has.
Speaker A:So God is fulfilling that.
Speaker A:We can tell that because the servant came here and walked straight to you.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And when you walked up to him and you said exactly what he asked God, you know, it's so obvious.
Speaker A:They're like, you are going to be here.
Speaker A:He said, the mother of thousands of millions Let your sea, your descendants, possess the gate of those which hate them.
Speaker A:And Rebecca rose and her damsels, and they wrote, why did he say that?
Speaker A:Possess this the.
Speaker A:The gates of those which hate them.
Speaker A:That's prophecy right there, isn't it?
Speaker A:Remember where Abraham's living at Canaan?
Speaker A:The Canaanites.
Speaker A:And now what is happening over in the Middle East?
Speaker A:The Canaanites hate Israel.
Speaker A:Don't shout me down when I'm preaching.
Speaker A:Good.
Speaker A:You can see prophecy being fulfilled right there.
Speaker A:And he said, your descendants, your seed will possess the gate of those that hate them.
Speaker A:And so it is.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:God's word comes true all the time.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Verse 61.
Speaker A:Rebecca arose her damsels.
Speaker A:They rode upon the camels and followed the man.
Speaker A:And the servant took Rebecca and went his way.
Speaker A:Now, there's a time span here, you know, probably a few weeks travel time anyway.
Speaker A:And as Isaac came from the way of the well of Lahore, where he dwelt in the south country, Isaac went out to meditate in the field.
Speaker A:At the evening, he lifted up his eyes and saw.
Speaker A:And behold, the camels were coming.
Speaker A:Rebekah lifted up her eyes and she saw Isaac.
Speaker A:She lighted off her camel, for she had said to the servant, what man's this is walking in the field to meet us?
Speaker A:And the servant said, it's my master.
Speaker A:Therefore, she took a veil and covered herself.
Speaker A:And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.
Speaker A:And Isaac brought her unto his mother Sarah's tent and took Rebecca, and she became his wife.
Speaker A:And he loved her.
Speaker A:And Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:So now, well, we'll.
Speaker A:We'll tell you what.
Speaker A:I want to stop right there because we're gonna start now with the.
Speaker A:The lineage here.
Speaker A:And it's important I spend some time in chapter 25.
Speaker A:So I'm going to stop this one right now.
Speaker A:And we'll take it up right there in chapter 25, Genesis, chapter 25.
Speaker A:Next time.
Speaker A:Amen again.
Speaker A:Give us a like and a thumbs up and.
Speaker A:And share this out on your social media.
Speaker A:Leave comments down below.
Speaker A:And let's get the word out into all the earth.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:That's our job.
Speaker A:Get the word out into all the earth.
Speaker A:And that's what we're doing here as well.
Speaker A:All right, Till next time, Pastor.
Speaker A:By reminding you to be blessed in all that you do.
