Hello everyone, everywhere.
Speaker A:Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.
Speaker A:Welcome to your daily 15 minute Bible walk.
Speaker A:We're so blessed you're joining us today.
Speaker A:We left off last time in Genesis chapter 20.
Speaker A:We read down through verse 16.
Speaker A:So we're going to pick it up today in Genesis chapter 20, verse 17.
Speaker A:So Abraham prayed unto God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maidservants, and they bore children.
Speaker A:For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.
Speaker A:And we studied that last time about all that situation.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:So let's continue now in Genesis, chapter 21, beginning in verse number one.
Speaker A:And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said.
Speaker A:And the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken.
Speaker A:Now you got to remember, this is where the Lord told Abraham that next year, when I come back, about nine months from now, Sarah's gonna have a boy.
Speaker A:And Sarah laughed and we went into detail on that.
Speaker A:You can go back and catch up with that one too.
Speaker A:I don't want to rehash all that, but we see here that with God the impossible is always possible.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Praise God.
Speaker A:Shouts Amen.
Speaker A:Somebody somewhere on that one.
Speaker A:For Sarah had conceived and bore Abraham's son in his old age at the set time of which God had spoken to them.
Speaker A:And Abraham called the name of his son that was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.
Speaker A:And Isaac, or Abraham's serpent, circumcised, his son Isaac, being eight days old, as God had commanded him.
Speaker A:Now remember, Shem, we talked about this before, was still alive when all this was happening.
Speaker A:Shem at this point was 490 years old.
Speaker A:All right?
Speaker A:And Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.
Speaker A:And Sarah said, God has made me to laugh so that all that here will laugh with me.
Speaker A:In other words, they're going to rejoice with me.
Speaker A:I'm rejoicing right now.
Speaker A:And everyone who hears about this is going to rejoice with me.
Speaker A:Is that who would have ever said that Abraham unto Abraham, that Sarah would have given, been able to nurse children, said give children suckments.
Speaker A:Talking, nursing children.
Speaker A:For I have born to him a son in his old age.
Speaker A:Now we have the process of time, okay?
Speaker A:It says, and the child grew and was weaned.
Speaker A:And Abraham made a great feast for him.
Speaker A:The same day that Isaac was weaned.
Speaker A:And Sarah saw the son of Hagar is now verse nine.
Speaker A:The Egyptian was.
Speaker A:She had borne onto Abraham, mocking Mocking him.
Speaker A:Therefore she said to Abraham, cast out this bond woman and her son.
Speaker A:For the son of this bond woman shall not be an heir with my son, even with Isaac.
Speaker A:And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.
Speaker A:I mean, he loved Ishmael, right?
Speaker A:Remember when God told him that you'll have a son, he goes, I'll just let Ishmael live before you forever.
Speaker A:He loved Ishmael because Ishmael was his firstborn.
Speaker A:But God here, verse 12, chapter 21, verse 12, said to Abraham, let it not be grievous in your sight because of the lad and because of the your bond woman.
Speaker A:And all that Sarah has said to you, listen to her voice.
Speaker A:For in Isaac shall your seed be called.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:So he says, you know, look, you got to cause this separation.
Speaker A:What she said is right.
Speaker A:You have to cause this separation so that I can continue to bless Isaac.
Speaker A:Because through Isaac and his descendants is where your promises that I gave you are going to come to pass.
Speaker A:Just like I said.
Speaker A:Remember?
Speaker A:He told him that long time ago, 13, 14 years ago, at least more than that now, because Isaac's already weaned.
Speaker A:So let's say 16 years ago, prior to this, God told Abraham, you're going to have a son through Sarah, and your descendants will be as numerous as the stars of heaven because of him.
Speaker A:All right, so now he has to says, you know, you need to listen to your wife here.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's a word from God for a lot of you men out there right now.
Speaker A:Sometimes your woman, your wife will tell you what God said to tell you.
Speaker A:And you got to be wise enough and spiritual enough to discern when those times are.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Because he will let you know when you're doing something wrong.
Speaker A:And it could be through your wife, through a co worker at work.
Speaker A:It could just be the Holy Spirit whispering in your ear, putting it in your heart.
Speaker A:And an angel whispered in your ear, this is the way walkie in it if you try to turn to the right or to the left.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:So here he says, sarah, listen.
Speaker A:All that Sarah said to you, for an Isaac shall your sea be called.
Speaker A:Verse 13, also of the son of the bondwoman, I will make him a nation because he is your descendant.
Speaker A:Okay, so Abraham rose up early in the morning, took bread, bottle of water, gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away.
Speaker A:And she departed and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
Speaker A:Soon the water was well spent in the bottle and she laid the child down underneath one of the shrubs, and she went over and sat down, over against him, a good way off, about a bow shot, in other words, probably about 40, 50 yards.
Speaker A:And she said, do not let me see the death of the child.
Speaker A:And she sat over against him, lift up her voice and wept.
Speaker A:And I can understand that 100%.
Speaker A:God heard the voice of the lad, didn't hear the voice of the mother, heard the voice of the lad.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:The baby was probably crying because he's thirsty, hungry, right?
Speaker A:And the angel of God called a hagar out of heaven, said to her, what ails you, Hagar?
Speaker A:In other words, what do you need, hagar?
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:Because she's praying here.
Speaker A:He said, do not fear.
Speaker A:God has heard the voice of the lad.
Speaker A:Where he is.
Speaker A:Is it?
Speaker A:Arise.
Speaker A:Lift up the lad.
Speaker A:I will hold him in you and hold.
Speaker A:Lift up the ladder and hold him in your hand, for I will make of him.
Speaker A:A great nation says, go get your boy.
Speaker A:It's going to be all right.
Speaker A:And God opened her eyes, and she seen a well of water.
Speaker A:And she went, filled the bottle with water and gave the lad drink.
Speaker A:And God was with the lad.
Speaker A:He grew and dwelt in the wilderness and became an archer, and he dwelt in the wilderness.
Speaker A:Paran.
Speaker A:And his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
Speaker A:Verse 22.
Speaker A:It came to pass at that time that Abimelech and Fecal, the chief captain of his host, spoke to Abraham, saying, God's with you in all that you do.
Speaker A:See the colon, that means so that God is with you in all that you do, so that now therefore swear to me here by God, that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor my son's son.
Speaker A:But according to the kindness that I have done unto you, you shall do unto me and to the land whereof you have sojourned, or where you have been living.
Speaker A:And Abra said, I'll.
Speaker A:I'll swear to that.
Speaker A:Yeah, you don't have to worry about it.
Speaker A:I'll.
Speaker A:I'll.
Speaker A:I'll take care of that, you know, we'll.
Speaker A:We'll be all right.
Speaker A:And Abraham reproved Abimelech, though because of the well of water which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away.
Speaker A:So he said, yeah, you know, I don't a problem with you, King.
Speaker A:I don't have a problem with, you know, anything you just asked me to do.
Speaker A:But look, you got to tell your guys to knock it off, and I can just See, King, what do you mean?
Speaker A:What are you talking about?
Speaker A:And he's going to tell them about this well, all right?
Speaker A:And because verse here says, you know, verse 25, Abraham reproved Abimelech because of the well of water which am serves a violet take away.
Speaker A:And Abimelech said, I didn't even know this happened.
Speaker A:I don't know who did this thing.
Speaker A:You didn't even tell me about it before.
Speaker A:This is the first I've heard of it today.
Speaker A:And Abraham took sheep and oxen, gave them to above as an offering.
Speaker A:Okay, he's given him an offering.
Speaker A:And both of them made a covenant.
Speaker A:So he goes, look, I'll give you the sheep and oxen here, you tell everyone I own that well.
Speaker A:And he took 71 lambs of flock by themselves.
Speaker A:And Abimelech said unto Abraham, what are these seven you lambs would you set off by themselves?
Speaker A:And he said, for you 7 you lamb shall you'll take from my hand that they may be a witness for me that I have dug this well.
Speaker A:Therefore he called it Beersheba, which is the well of the oath, okay?
Speaker A:Because there they both swore to each other, that well belongs to Abraham.
Speaker A:We're good friends.
Speaker A:He's blessed, he can live here.
Speaker A:I don't have a problem with it.
Speaker A:And Abraham said, I agree to all that, okay?
Speaker A:So they made a covenant.
Speaker A:Then a baby like rose up, he and Fikall, the chief captain of his host, and they returned to the land of the Philistines.
Speaker A:Verse 33.
Speaker A:And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba and called there on the name of the Lord, Jehovah, Yahweh, the everlasting God and Abraham sojourned or lived in the Philistines land for many days.
Speaker A:And that concludes verse 21.
Speaker A:For time reasons, we'll leave it right there for today and we'll take it up next time.
Speaker A:In chapter 22 and verse number one of Genesis, I urge you drop down the show notes, leave your comments.
Speaker A:Share this out on social media Help us get the word out.
Speaker A:This is the word of God.
Speaker A:This is verse by verse going through the Word of God.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:And it's a great Bible study.
Speaker A:I'm enjoying myself.
Speaker A:I pray you are as well.
Speaker A:Until next time.
Speaker A:This Pastor Bob reminding you to be blessed in all that you do.
