Speaker A:

Hello everyone, everywhere.

Speaker A:

Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.

Speaker A:

Welcome to your 15 minute daily Bible walk.

Speaker A:

We're so blessed you're joining us today.

Speaker A:

Last time we left off with Abraham on his way to Mount Moriah to offer Isaac his son as a sacrifice under the Lord.

Speaker A:

Now if you missed that episode, we covered a lot of stuff in there.

Speaker A:

Go back and catch up.

Speaker A:

The information we talked about yesterday was so inspiring.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

And I don't have time to cover it all again today.

Speaker A:

We're going to pick it up with verse 8 where Abraham said, you know, set the situation here.

Speaker A:

They went three days journey this day three.

Speaker A:

Now he sees the hill that God wants him to go up to, which ends up being Mount Moriah, which is where Jerusalem is now.

Speaker A:

And he tells the two young servants that are with him.

Speaker A:

We went in detail on why they were young, not the older gentleman yesterday, but he said, you wait here with the donkey.

Speaker A:

The boy and I go up there.

Speaker A:

And he put the wood on Isaac, told Isaac to carry it, symbolizing Jesus carrying his cross.

Speaker A:

Okay, his altar of sacrifice.

Speaker A:

And on the way, Isaac says, hey, dad, we got the fire, we got the wood, but where's the sheep?

Speaker A:

And here verse 8 says, Son, God will see to it that there's a sheet for the burnt offering.

Speaker A:

And they kept on walking together.

Speaker A:

I'm reading this for this chapter here.

Speaker A:

I'm reading out of the Message Bible, if you want to the, the King James version, it says, Abraham said, my God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering.

Speaker A:

So they went on together.

Speaker A:

There's some of this information that the Message Bible makes it more conversational.

Speaker A:

That's why I like using it from time to time, especially on, on important topics.

Speaker A:

So verse nine here, it says they arrived at the place to which God had directed him to Abraham, built an altar.

Speaker A:

Now where do you get the altar from?

Speaker A:

Well, rocks laying around there.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Remember God, you know, this was after, way after this time.

Speaker A:

But God told him, when you're building an altar, you use stones there.

Speaker A:

You don't put a, you know, you're not going to chisel it into the square marble things like you use natural stones.

Speaker A:

So he used stones for the offering.

Speaker A:

He laid out the wood on the stone to burn and set fire to the offering.

Speaker A:

Then he tied up Isaac and laid him on the wood.

Speaker A:

Think about that.

Speaker A:

I want you to stop here.

Speaker A:

We know that Isaac.

Speaker A:

So he had to make, he had to be able to.

Speaker A:

We don't have the time frame.

Speaker A:

Let's put it like that.

Speaker A:

Because it says the Boy grew.

Speaker A:

He'd been weaned and weaned off, you know, from nursing.

Speaker A:

And they had a big party for him, and we sent away Ishmael.

Speaker A:

So time's going on here to be a valid offering.

Speaker A:

How can I say this, Lord, but like this.

Speaker A:

Isaac had to be in agreement with it.

Speaker A:

Let me lead it like that, okay?

Speaker A:

Isaac had to be in agreement with it.

Speaker A:

Now, what is that age of agreement?

Speaker A:

Well, we know there's a big party for bar mitzvah and all that, so let's say Isaac was 13.

Speaker A:

Now, it does not say.

Speaker A:

Okay, this is speculation on Pastor Bob's part here, but it does not say how old Isaac was when all this happened.

Speaker A:

But we know Isaac had to be in agreement with it in order to be in agreement with it.

Speaker A:

He had to understand what was going to take place.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

He couldn't be six years old.

Speaker A:

And Abraham's a.

Speaker A:

Come on, we're gonna.

Speaker A:

We're gonna do.

Speaker A:

Go do an offering, okay?

Speaker A:

And he's just following along, dad.

Speaker A:

And then he's gonna time up, put him up there and slay him.

Speaker A:

It does not that.

Speaker A:

That makes zero sense.

Speaker A:

Okay, what do you think happened?

Speaker A:

Isaac had to be old enough to understand what the offerings were.

Speaker A:

Which says right here, we got the we, we got the fire, we got the wood, but where's the sheep?

Speaker A:

He understood what offerings required.

Speaker A:

He'd been taught this.

Speaker A:

I believe Isaac was at the age where he had to make a decision if he was going to fulfill the covenant that God gave to his dad, Abraham.

Speaker A:

He now don't, you know, sitting around the fireplaces at night.

Speaker A:

Abraham was telling this story.

Speaker A:

Isaac grew up knowing this story.

Speaker A:

Isaac grew up knowing he was special.

Speaker A:

Isaac grew up new, knowing, you know, other people that, you know, had children his age were like in their 30s and 40s here.

Speaker A:

Abraham over a hundred years old, probably, but this time, he's close to 115.

Speaker A:

Sarah's over a hundred years old now.

Speaker A:

She's about 105.

Speaker A:

If we're saying Isaac is 14 years old, right?

Speaker A:

And here, you know, he knows he's something special.

Speaker A:

And God and Abraham has been telling him all about how he serves Elohim El Shaddai, the most high God who provides every need you will ever have.

Speaker A:

He's the one who.

Speaker A:

Who told us you.

Speaker A:

You were gonna come.

Speaker A:

And he's the one who said it would happen this time.

Speaker A:

And that's when you were born, boy.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

He grew up knowing all this and Abraham making sure, you know, the promises.

Speaker A:

He's telling Isaac all about the promises God had told him would happen with Isaac.

Speaker A:

And at night they're sitting there, he says, boy, look at all them stars.

Speaker A:

Can you count all them stars?

Speaker A:

And he's like, well, I can start, but you know, pretty soon he's losing count.

Speaker A:

And he's.

Speaker A:

God said, that's how many descendants you're going to have.

Speaker A:

That's, you know, you're going to start off with, you know, maybe, maybe you have 10 sons.

Speaker A:

Maybe you got 10 sons, maybe 12, right?

Speaker A:

And each one of them has 12.

Speaker A:

And each one of them has 12 dot and each one of them has 12.

Speaker A:

God says, eventually you're going to have so many descendants, each one of them stars and represent one of them, you can't even count how many descendants that is.

Speaker A:

And Isaac's all wide eyed, wow.

Speaker A:

And he's been learning this since time.

Speaker A:

He could just start asking questions like, what are the stars?

Speaker A:

Let me tell you about those stars, boy.

Speaker A:

Okay, so follow me with this.

Speaker A:

Now he understands his role in God's covenant that he made with his dad.

Speaker A:

He understands that without God none of this is happening because his parents couldn't even conceive.

Speaker A:

And you know, for all those years he.

Speaker A:

And he's understanding what's happening.

Speaker A:

And now he says, where's the fire?

Speaker A:

Where's the, the, the.

Speaker A:

We got the fire, we got the wood.

Speaker A:

Where's the sheep?

Speaker A:

I understand covenant, I understand offerings.

Speaker A:

We don't have what we need.

Speaker A:

And here he says, God will provide himself a sheep.

Speaker A:

Now they arrive at that place and Abraham and either roll some stones together and get everything there.

Speaker A:

Abraham puts the wood up there and Isaac's still looking around and says, where's the offering?

Speaker A:

And now Abraham says, you it.

Speaker A:

You it, boy.

Speaker A:

Now I have a feeling that he reminded Isaac about the covenant.

Speaker A:

Do you and he, they may have been talking about this on the way.

Speaker A:

Do you totally trust God in fulfilling the covenant he made about you through me?

Speaker A:

Oh yeah, Dad, I do.

Speaker A:

Do you totally trust God?

Speaker A:

So when things go bad, not the way you think they should be going, do you have enough faith where you can trust God that he's going to make sure that, that the covenant comes to pass?

Speaker A:

Oh yeah, dad, not a problem.

Speaker A:

I believe that a little bit further.

Speaker A:

Do you trust God enough that even when it looks absolutely hopeless, you can trust God to make a way when there is no way?

Speaker A:

Yes, yes, I believe that God.

Speaker A:

I mean, look, I'm here, you know, it was impossible for you to have children and God promised to you and here I am.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I Believe.

Speaker A:

I believe.

Speaker A:

That's all right.

Speaker A:

You asked where the sheep was for the offering.

Speaker A:

God said, you're the offering.

Speaker A:

I have to give him.

Speaker A:

I have to give you to him, boy.

Speaker A:

I'm going to give him.

Speaker A:

I'm going to give you to him, and then he is going to take you, and he's going to fulfill everything that.

Speaker A:

That he promised.

Speaker A:

Now, at this point, Isaac's probably wondering if I'm dead, how's he going to do that?

Speaker A:

I don't know, Dad.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

I don't know about this.

Speaker A:

Notice the next verse does not say, and they found Isaac six years later, living in the land of Egypt.

Speaker A:

No, it does not say that.

Speaker A:

It does not say Isaac took one of the pieces of wood lopped up Abraham on the side of the head and ran off that hillside as fast as he could go.

Speaker A:

It does not say that.

Speaker A:

It does not say that.

Speaker A:

It says, then he tied up Isaac and laid him on the wood.

Speaker A:

Isaac had to be in complete agreement with this.

Speaker A:

I have a feeling Abraham probably reminded him.

Speaker A:

I'll remember everything we just talked about on the way up here.

Speaker A:

You said you trusted God.

Speaker A:

God is now putting you to the test.

Speaker A:

How much do you trust?

Speaker A:

How much do I trust him?

Speaker A:

I trust him completely.

Speaker A:

So much so I'm willing to give him my only son, you, in order to fulfill his covenant, Isaac, through you.

Speaker A:

Do you trust him enough that no matter what happens now, somehow God's gonna make sure that you're alive?

Speaker A:

I don't know how it's gonna happen.

Speaker A:

I don't know because I'm not him.

Speaker A:

I'm not God.

Speaker A:

I just know.

Speaker A:

I've seen God do miraculous things just to have you here right now.

Speaker A:

And I know we serve a miraculous God.

Speaker A:

And I know that he cannot break his promises.

Speaker A:

Do you trust that enough, too?

Speaker A:

I have a feeling that's the conversation they've had.

Speaker A:

That's why Isaac said, I believe.

Speaker A:

I believe somehow, some way, God will fulfill his promise and I will be able to come down off this altar and still have children.

Speaker A:

And just like you said, dad, the stars of heaven.

Speaker A:

I believe that'll happen.

Speaker A:

So he tied up Isaac, laid him on the wood, then Abraham reached out and took the knife to slay his son.

Speaker A:

As he's raising that knife up in the air, just then, an angel of God called him out of heaven.

Speaker A:

Abraham.

Speaker A:

Abraham.

Speaker A:

He's like, I'm listening, Lord.

Speaker A:

Matter of fact, let's go over to the King James version here for that, right?

Speaker A:

And Isaac spoke unto Abraham's father, said, my father Here I am.

Speaker A:

He said, where's.

Speaker A:

Here's the firewood.

Speaker A:

Where's the lamb for the burnt offering?

Speaker A:

Verse 8.

Speaker A:

My Son God provided for himself a burnt offering.

Speaker A:

So they went on, both them together.

Speaker A:

They came to the place, verse 9, which God had told him of.

Speaker A:

They built an altar, laid the wood on the altar, bound Isaac's son, laid him on the altar of wood.

Speaker A:

Abraham stretched forth his hand, took the knife to slay his son.

Speaker A:

And the angel, Lord called him out of heaven, said, abraham, Abraham.

Speaker A:

And he said, here I am.

Speaker A:

Here I am.

Speaker A:

And the angel said, do not lay your hand upon the lad, neither do though anything unto him.

Speaker A:

For now I know, let's stop.

Speaker A:

Let's back up.

Speaker A:

Angel of the Lord.

Speaker A:

That's reference to Jesus in the Old Testament, that's what they call Jesus, angel of the Lord.

Speaker A:

And he said, lay not your hand upon the lad, neither do anything to him.

Speaker A:

For now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not even withheld your son, your only son, from me.

Speaker A:

Praise God.

Speaker A:

Hallelujah.

Speaker A:

Oh, that's so awesome.

Speaker A:

Praise you, Jesus.

Speaker A:

We're gonna take it up right there.

Speaker A:

I got more to talk about this.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

About the Podcast

15 Minute Daily Bible Walk
Verse by Verse Through The Bible
This has been a project I have been contemplating for a long time.

Join me in walking through the Bible on our personal Bible study - one verse at at time. There is no "preaching" here. Just simple scripture reading with brief explanations and examples of what the scripture mean.

I was inspired to do this project based upon the program "Through The Bible" with Dr. Jay Veron McGee (who is passed on to be with the Lord for several years now). When I first started to study the Bible, his radio program helped me immensely. It took Dr. McGee 5 years to do a complete Bible Study.

I do not know how long it will take us. But you can start listening at anytime. My goal is to create a new episode each and every day (365 days per year).

Of course, "sometimes" life will get in the way (for many reasons). But I will pick it right back up where we left off (and try to catch up the days that were missed - to help keep us on track).

As I continue to add more episodes, you can join us at the most recent program or start at the beginning. Each episode is labeled as to the scriptures we are going to discuss.

I am so blessed you are here and I pray you will get a huge blessing as we join together in a "15 Minute Daily Bible Walk!" Amen!

About your host

Profile picture for Robert Thibodeau

Robert Thibodeau

I am a 12 year Army veteran as both enlisted and as a commissioned Cavalry Officer.
I am now a retired law enforcement supervisor...

I had my own business for seven years before I entered law enforcement.

As a cop, I was injured on the job on May 12, 2007 and after several surgeries over a couple of years, forced to retire in 2011.

As I was looking down the road to “what am I going to do next?” I started what is now known as a podcast (I had no clue at the time).

Within six months of starting (what I called) “My online radio program” I was offered an opportunity to be on nationwide AM radio. I learned A LOT in one year of doing that!

I then started the online Christian radio platform "Evangelism Radio" in the fall of 2010. It has had listeners in 160+ nations and all 50 states. We host 50+ Christian broadcasters on a weekly basis. We have been operating 24/7 for almost 14 years now. We have been rated #1 in the world by Shoutcast. com on several occasions in our genre. We recently transferred ownership of Evangelism Radio to another ministry so I could concentrate full time on podcasting, preaching and writing.

In 2018, I started the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast to conduct interviews with Christian influencers from all walks of life and to play their interviews on the radio station. (The KCR Podcast has its own time slot on Evangelism Radio)!
We now have over 1600 episodes and almost 1100 interviews (in just over 6 years).

Looking out at the future of online Christian media, I noticed there was no viable platforms that catered only to the Christian podcast market.

In 2023, we launched a networking platform called, "FaithCasters" which connects "Great Christian podcasters with Great Christian Guests!" This helps to promote the work you do through podcast interviews! Check it out at https://FaithCaster.org

We recently launched "FaithCaster Academy" which serves as a training hub for ALL of our trainings (podcast training / speaker training / interview training, etc.). Members receive access to ALL of our training programs for one low, monthly membership fee. Members also receive FREE access to ALL of the LIVE trainings I conduct (1 or 2 per month) - while non-members have to pay to access the live trainings.

Between my podcast training program, conducting podcast interviews, appearing on other podcasts as guests, speaking at conferences (in person and virtually) and the podcast networking platform, I guess you could say “I’m all in” when it comes to podcasting and online media!

My total focus is to do all we can to assist you to “Get The Word Out” about your mission, services, products, ministry, books, business, etc.
